A common cosmetic concern for many people is breast ptosis (sagging) that, while a source of frustration or insecurities, can be addressed with enhancement procedures. There are multiple reasons why a patient may be experiencing sagging breasts, including pregnancy and breastfeeding, the natural aging process, and significant weight loss. Those factors can result in lax skin and depleted breast tissue, as well as a change in breast position.
At Premier Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics, our board-certified plastic surgeon, John M. Sarbak, MD, is committed to helping patients achieve their desired appearance. He’s experienced with a wide range of breast enhancement procedures and uses the latest surgical techniques. When it comes to addressing sagging breasts and helping patients achieve a perkier, firmer look, he typically recommends one of the following procedures, if not a combination of the two:
- Breast Augmentation: For patients seeking a fuller chest size, more symmetrical bustline, and improvement of minor sagging, breast augmentation may be the preferred option. This popular surgery typically involves silicone or saline breast implants to create the desired appearance. Dr. Sarbak utilizes a variety of approaches to perform breast augmentation, including the transumbilical breast augmentation (TUBA) method, which is also called “scarless breast augmentation.”
- Breast Lift: A breast lift, or mastopexy, can benefit patients who are struggling primarily with sagging breasts and lost volume. This procedure is designed to elevate the breasts for a more youthful-looking bustline. A breast lift can be achieved with or without breast implants, taking a patient’s individual needs and goals into account. The procedure entails removing excess skin, tightening remaining breast tissue, and repositioning the breasts.
