Looking to enhance the shape, size, and/or position of your breasts? You may be wondering what type of breast procedure will be best for you. There are many factors that go into determining the most appropriate type of surgery to address your individual goals. At Premier Plastic Surgery and Spa, our plastic surgeon John M. Sarbak, MD has immense experience performing breast lift and breast augmentation. Both procedures involve revitalizing the overall appearance of the chest area, but they are designed to address different concerns.
Upon your initial consultation, Dr. Sarbak will listen to your goals and needs so he can better inform you on which procedure can serve you more effectively. In some cases, Dr. Sarbak may recommend combining the procedures. Below, we have provided an overview of each procedure to give you a better idea of whether breast augmentation, breast lift, or breast augmentation with lift may be best for you.
Breast Lift: Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, specifically addresses sagging or drooping breasts. Over time, or due to pregnancy and nursing, women’s breasts can lose volume, shape, and firmness. The result of this loss of structure can result in significant sagging with the breasts no longer positioned as high as they once were on the chest. A breast lift is aimed at restoring your breasts to a more youthful position.
Breast Augmentation: The breast augmentation procedure utilizes silicone or saline implants that are inserted above or below the pectoral muscle to improve the shape, contour, and size of your breasts. When performed by a trained and experienced surgeon like Dr. Sarbak, breast augmentation is considered to be very safe. Dr. Sarbak can also utilize the transumbilical breast augmentation (TUBA) technique that leaves no scarring around the breast area.
Breast Augmentation with Lift: Some patients may benefit from a breast augmentation with lift, also referred to as a breast lift with implants or a breast lift with augmentation. By utilizing breast implants to provide increased volume and shape in tandem with a breast lift, various concerns in the chest area can be addressed simultaneously. The results of a breast augmentation with lift can ultimately provide a total rejuvenation of your appearance.
